On Saturday, December 13th, TheSetMagazine.com stopped by the Jacob Javits Convention Center to attend the 2014 Progressive Bike Show. With over 500 bikes on display it was hard to choose which one to review first. For some of The Set Magazines staff members (who by the way are also fellow riders) it was like being like a kid stuck in a candy store. The enthusiast were intrigued to see the new line up from such manufactures as Honda, Kawasaki, Triumph, KTM, Suzuki, Yamaha, Indian Motorcycle, Harley Davidson, BMW and Ducati. The spectators came in by the droves to see this spectacular display of motorcycles. Many of the motorcycle companies were represented and unveiled their new models for the 2015 riding season. Custom bikes were also displayed at booths throughout the showroom floor. Representatives of the attending bike manufacturers were on hand to explain the various bike models and their mouth dropping features, as were representatives of gear manufacturers to help attendees find the correct fit helmet, jacket or other riding gear. The International Motorcycle Show featured:
Electrifying “Team No Limit” stunt shows, hosted by Jay Cruz and sponsored by Monster Energy Drink. The show featured Legendary Stunt Rider, Jason Britton and Eric Hoenshell. They were entertaining the crowd of on lookers with stunts called 50/50 circles, 180 stoppies, pop wheelies, and switch back coffins on their matching Kawasaki 656 motorcycles. Vintage bikes were displayed by local vintage bike clubs throughout. J&P Cycles Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Competition, with cash prizes awarded to custom builders in several different classes. 11-time world champion drag bike racer Rickey Gadson was also on hand to show his new Kawasaki Ninja H2R-G supercharged drag bike. He also granted The SET Magazine an exclusive interview. Vendors such as Charlie’s Chop Shop and Quality Powder Coating showcased their custom work on a Ducati,.and a KTM motorcycles. The show was open to the public from Friday December, 12th through Sunday, December 14th at the Jacob Javits Center on New York City’s West side. There were clubs from all over the United States in attendance. We also bumped into a lot of familiar faces from the NYC circuit. On one occasion I spotted Boo of KS Riders MC, photographing the Ninga H2R-G (which happens to be Ricky Gadson’s drag racing bike) I asked Boo what drew him to the show this year and he stated with enthusiasm, “When you’re a biker this is one of the biggest events throughout the entire year. I try and attend the show every year and it gets better and better with time.”
The SET Magazine covered two full days of this event and was granted some really fantastic interviews. The interviews will be featured in a six part upcoming series. Overall the 2014 Progressive International Motorcycle Show was a huge success, and we look forward to seeing more in the future!
